Nail of the Day (NOTD): Ulta3 Magnetic in Allure, review

I thought I would share my current choice of polish with a nail of the day (NOTD). It is a magnetic polish from Ulta3 in the shade Allure. I searched for this magnetic polish line in a few chemists before I found them! Allure is a taupe-y silver-y brown, it has shimmer and reminds me of OPIs My Private Jet.

    Photo taken from Ulta3 Facebook

The way magnetic polishes work is using a special formula and a magnet design to create a simple, cool look on your nails. Ulta3 states the directions as:

    1. Paint one coat of polish on nails and let dry.
    2. Apply a second layer of nail polish to one nail only.
    3. While polish is wet, hold magnetic closely above nail (avoiding direct contact) for 20 seconds. Watch as your nail polish begins to move and the pattern forms.
    4. Repeat steps 1-3 one nail at a time.

I had a little difficulty at first but once I figured out the process I had no problems.

The magnet creates a unique effect on the nails that interesting to look at and fun. Each polish comes with a magnet, Allure comes with magnet P04. Ulta3 has released 6 shades and magnets are available to purchase separately as well. I got 3: Allure, Spellbound and one to giveaway... :) That will be revealed in the next post! Due to their popularity Ulta3 plans to release another collection as well and asks for colour suggestions of their Facebook page.

I got my polish for $4.49 and extra magnets for $2.49.  The RRP for the polish is $5. Overall I really like these and I may get another one or two shades, the chemist I went to had sold out of a few colours.

Pink, pink pink! giveaway: Re-drawn Winner!!!

I first drew the winner for this giveaway 3 days ago, I didn't get a response from the person though so I have re-drawn it. In the first drawing there was a Blogger glitch with comments so two entrants were unfortunately left out, I've fixed that issue now. There was a total of 18 entrants. To choose a winner I did the same as previously, I entered all the entrants names into an Excel spreadsheet which assigned them a number 1-18. I then used Random.org to generate a number, the number generated was the winner and the winner was:

entrant #1 Jaztee :) CONGRATULATIONS Jaztee! Please contact me ASAP at: sassypie@gmail.com so I can contact you for your mailing address and get your prize out!

Sorry everyone couldn't win. I apologize for the Blogger glitch and I hope that everyone understands that I re-drew the giveaway. I strive to do the fair thing by everyone :)

As I said in the first drawing post thank-you everyone for entering, and for visiting the blog, commenting etc. It means a lot. I will have a new giveaway up tonight or tomorrow! :)

    Small Target haul!

I did a small haul at Target tonight. They had 50% off both Maybelline and L'Oreal cosmetics. I got:

Maybelline Eyestudio Quad in Taupe Temptress

The taupe in this quad is lovely (third from left), I got this mainly for that :)

L'Oreal Color Infallible in Metallic Lilac

This shade is gorgeous, a soft lilac, I think it will go well with the silver shade below.

L'Oreal Color Infallible in Flashback Silver

This is a taupey-silver that is gorgeous. I love taupe.

L'Oreal Color Infallible in Magnetic Coral

This is a bright, vibrant coral. I'll do an EOTD with it tomorrow!

    Revlon Nail Art in Break-Up

I first saw promo images for these up in Queensland and I was glad I saw them in Target. It wasn't on sale so I just got the one. I love the pink glitter. I will try it in the next couple of days and do a NOTD post!

I also got a pair of tights and some socks. So that is my haul! I also got two Maybelline Color Tattoo 24 Hour eyeshadows for a giveaway! So keep a look out for that! :) Has anyone hauled anything recently?

Eye of the Day (EOTD): Bright purple duochrome!

I thought I'd post a quick eye of the day (EOTD) of the eye makeup I wore today. It features a bright purple blue duochrome shadow, one of my favourites. Products I used on the eye and my face are listed below.

    Products used:

    Face:
    Clarins Beauty Flash Balm
    Becca Foundation Stick in Praline
Estee Lauder Double Wear in Bone (as concealer)
YSL Touche Eclat in 02 (under eyes)
La Prarie Cellular Treatment Loose Powder
Chanel Sable Beige Soleil Tan de Chanel
    Chanel Horizon de Chanel

    Eyes:
NARS Pro-Prime Smudge Proof eyeshadow base
Maybelline Color Tattoo in Painted Purple (lid base)   review/swatches here
MAC Stars n Rockets (lid colour)
    MAC Satellite Dreams (crease colour)
Bare Minerals Ready Duo in The Cliffhanger (purple in outer v)
    MAC Shroom (inner corner, highlight)
    YSL Faux Cils Mascara
Stila Kajal Eyeliner in Black (upper waterline)
Maybelline Line Stiletto Eyeliner in Black (top lashline)

    Lips:
    Nivea Milk and Honey balm

Sorry for the lower quality brighter photos. I took these with my iPhone as my camera is playing up and I need to either try and fix it or exchange it. I had to use flash to get enough light for the look to show up.

I haven't had an answer on my giveaway, so I am waiting for a message before deciding what to do. I'll give the winner a couple more days and if I don't hear anything I'll redraw the giveaway with all the entrants, including the two who were unfortunately missed due to the Blogger glitch. Thanks :)

Pink, pink pink! giveaway: Winner!!! and Blogger issues :(

Edit #2!   Due to not receiving a response from the first winner I drew I have re-drawn the giveaway including all 18 entrants (two were originally not included to a Blogger glitch). The new giveaway winner details can be found here:

    http://www.still-blushful.com/2012/06/pink-pink-pink-giveaway-re-drawn-winner.html

Edit!    Unfortunately there has been some commenting issues with Blogger that I was unaware of, I only realized after I read it on the Beauty Heaven forum. This means that two people who had entered were not included in the giveaway as their comments didn't show up on the giveaway page. I had no idea Blogger even had a spam folder for comments. It didn't seem fair to re-draw the winner after I had announced it and commented on their win to them, nor did it seem fair to exclude the other two entrants just because of Blogger having commenting issues.

I thought the fairest thing to do would be to give the two people who were mistakenly not included in the draw two entries each in the next giveaway that I'll be holding next week. Does this sound okay to everyone? I am so sorry it happened. I didn't know Blogger had glitches like this and I had no idea there was a spam folder. The two people affected were Court and kerker (I've still left your comments in the spam folder until I got some responses from people).  My apologies girls. I hope this solution is okay with everyone. Can anyone suggest anything else? The post I had originally written is below.

The time has come to finish my first giveaway and draw a winner! I had 16 entrants overall (which is amazing!). To choose a winner I entered all the entrants names into an Excel spreadsheet which assigned them a number 1-16. I then used Random.org to generate a number, the number generated was the winner and the winner was:

entrant #2 ddd! :) CONGRATULATIONS ddd! Please contact me ASAP at: sassypie@gmail.com so I can contact you for your mailing address.

    Sorry you all couldn't win!

I just want to sincerely say thank-you to everyone that entered the giveaway and who has read my blog and commented. It means so much and I am having a lot of fun writing new posts, creating FOTDs, doing reviews etc. I will have giveaways as a regular thing, maybe every few weeks? Just small prizes for now but fun. I will probably choose a new prize during the week and start a new giveaway next Monday. Thanks everyone again! :)

New skincare products trial!: Clarins 5 Essentials Renewing set

I know I just did a skincare post for my HG series... I do love all of those products but I've decided to give this Clarins skincare set I got a shot and see how it works with my skin. The set is called 5 Essentials, there was a few others to choose from with certain products for different skin concerns. The one I picked was for renewing skin. I purchased this set from Myer for $48AUD (it is valued at $164).

I saw this set when I was looking at Clarins' Beauty Flash Balm. I've read about this product awhile back and I was keen to try it, I was looking for a primer with a brightening effect. The one I have currently been using, Hourglass' Mineral Veil is almost finished so I thought now is the time to try something new :) My skin hasn't been too bad lately but at times it looks a little dull and I get dry patches on my chin where I occasionally get blemishes.

The Clarins' Beauty Flash Balm is $60AUD and I decided to try a sample from Myer first. While browsing the counter I saw a range of skincare sets on sale, a couple included a 30ml version of the balm. I decided to purchase the set instead of getting a sample, that way I could get a good size of the product I really wanted to try and I'd have four others to trial also.

The products included in the set are: One-Step Facial Cleanser, Toning Lotion, Multi-Active Day and Night Creams and Beauty Flash Balm.

Note that the products in the skincare sets aren't full size except the cleanser.

So far I have used the cleanser, toner and the day/night creams. They all have fruity or floral scents to them and leave my skin feeling soft and refreshed. Last night after first using them I just kept thinking "oh my face smells nice". Who doesn't like that?

I really like the cleanser so far, I like that it has small exfoliating beads in it. And I'm excited to try the Beauty Flash Balm for the first time tomorrow.

Have any of you tried any Clarins' skincare before, if so what did you think of it? I do also have a Clarins' foundation I am trialling, the Skin Illusion, that I got for half price while in Queensland, a review of that will be up soon.

    - closing tomorrow night at 11pm EST, I will draw the winner then :)
    GIVEAWAY CLOSED!

Another face of the day (FOTD). As promised I included some colour. The look focuses on a bright emerald green eye and I've paired it with light coral cheeks and a pink lip. Products I used are below.

    Products used:

    Face:
    Hourglass Veil mineral primer
    Chanel Le Blanc de Chanel
    Becca Foundation Stick in Praline
Thin Lizzy concealer in Miss Von Dita
YSL Touche Eclat in 02 (under eyes)
La Prarie Cellular Treatment Loose Powder
Chanel Sable Beige Soleil Tan de Chanel
    MAC Immortal Flower

    Eyes:
NARS Pro-Prime Smudge Proof eyeshadow base
Maybelline Color Tattoo in Edgy Emerald (lid base)   review/swatches here
    MAC Aquadisiac (lid colour)
Bare Minerals Ready Eyeshadow duo in The Cliff Hanger (taupe in crease)
    MAC Shroom (inner corner, highlight)
    YSL Faux Cils Mascara
Stila Kajal Eyeliner in Black (upper waterline)
Maybelline Line Stiletto Eyeliner in Black (top lashline)

    Lips:
Revlon Lip Butter in Strawberry Shortcake

Sorry for the time/date stamps again, I forgot to turn the setting off! And apologies for the shadows on some of the photos, I was trying to capture how bright the shadow was. I don't wear colour like this all the time (I'd definitely get a lot of comments at work if I did!) but it is definitely fun from time to time. If you rock colour, how often do you do it?

Series: my Holy Grail (HG) products!: Skincare!

Next part in my HG series, skincare! My skincare routine has changed a lot in the past 6 to 12 months. The biggest change was getting a Clarisonic. I heard amazing things about the Clarisonic, and I was tempted into getting one knowing that it would get my skin super clean and hoping it would help clear up any breakouts I might get.

    Clarisonic Mia 2
This an amazing product. It removes all my make-up when I cleanse at night and I feel like in time it has helped even out my skin tone and helps keep blemishes at bay. I use mine with the sensitive brush head and the cleanser below, Philosophy's Purity Made Simple.

    Philosophy Purity Made Simple
I read a lot about how good Philosophy products were in general and I knew that the Purity Made Simple was a favourite of a lot of people.  I love that it cleans my skin without drying it out and it doesn't cause breakouts either.

    Neostrata Oily Skin Solution
I've only been using this product for a couple of weeks but it has really helped unclog my pores, make my skin less oily and help keep my skin smooth. I really think it has helped fade red marks as well.

    Vaseline Dry Skin Conditioning Lotion
I alternate between this moisturizer and the below one. When I get dry patches, especially in winter I use this product to help get my skin soft and smooth again.
    Nivea Soft
This has been my go-to moisturizer for years, I have re-purchased it a number of times. I prefer it the original Nivea, it blends into the skin much easier.  This skins into the skin very well and never leaves me feeling too oily. I think it helps keep my skin moisturized and soft.

    Bare Minerals Blemish Therapy
I used to use salicylic acid products on my blemishes but I found them a bit too drying. I read good things about this product, I knew it contained sulfur and I thought it might work better with my skin.  I think it works really well to reduce blemishes, in size and in redness and it doesn't dry my skin out. I really like that it is a translucent powder so it can be applied to a blemish before makeup, treating it throughout the day.

    Kate Somerville Eradikate
This product also contains sulfur. Like the Bare Minerals it helps reduce and heal blemishes. It is a little stinky (that's the sulfur) but the scent doesn't last. It doesn't dry out my skin either.

Those are my skincare HGs. They may change as my skin changes but they work well for me at the moment. I have combination oily skin and do have breakouts but these products help keep them under control :) Everyone's skin is different though.

Face of the Day (FOTD): Becca Stick Foundation and neutral eyes and cheeks

I thought I'd do another face of the day (FOTD). I wore Becca Stick Foundation in Praline, pairing it with a neutral eye and a light coral blush. Products I used are listed below.

    Products used:

    Face:
    Hourglass Veil mineral primer
    Chanel Le Blanc de Chanel
    Becca Foundation Stick in Praline
Thin Lizzy concealer in Miss Von Dita
YSL Touche Eclat in 02 (under eyes)
La Prarie Cellular Treatment Loose Powder
Chanel Sable Beige Soleil Tan de Chanel
    MAC Immortal Flower

    Eyes:
NARS Pro-Prime Smudge Proof eyeshadow base
Bare Minerals Ready Eyeshadow duo in The Cliff Hanger (taupe on lid, purple in outer v)
Chanel Ombre Essentielle soft touch eyeshadow in Safari (crease)
    MAC Shroom (inner corner, highlight)
    YSL Faux Cils Mascara
Stila Kajal Eyeliner in Black (upper waterline)
Maybelline Line Stiletto Eyeliner in Black (top lashline)

    Lips:
Revlon Lip Butter in Cherry Tart

The Becca is a gorgeous foundation and I think one of the best shade matches I've ever had. I think I'll be wearing it on a day to day basis. Sorry for the time/date stamp on some of the photos, my dad borrowed my camera while we were on holidays and the setting got turned on. I think I'll do a more colourful eye look for my next FOTD ;)
